Job Purpose:
The purpose and function of the Electrified and New Business Contracts Counsel is to provide high quality, proactive legal services and advice on a timely and cost-effective basis for moderate to complex matters to a variety of Honda companies throughout the North American Region to help minimize legal risks.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Day to day agreement support: Provide advice, negotiation, and review for agreements supporting electrification and new business functions at Honda, such as master service agreements, cloud service agreements and software license agreements. 
  • Must be willing/able to deal with Intellectual Property issues.
  • Complex agreement support: draft new agreements to support new business initiatives, and support complicated agreements involving joint ventures and alliances.
  • Improvement: Work on new processes and training for Honda associates to improve the quality and effectiveness of the legal function.
  • Projects: Participate in the planning and execution of assigned projects with a regional focus.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • Minimum 5 years experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Willingness to support other agreement areas depending on needs of the business
  • Ability to learn and understand new technology areas
  • Ability to handle Intellectual Property issues in agreements
  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school
  • Admittance to the California Bar
  • Flexibility to support agreement negotiations in eastern time zone from time to time
  • Excellent skills in communication, problem solving, customer satisfaction, building relationships, coaching, decision-making, risk analysis, flexibility, adaptability, patience, listening, good writing, risk taking, focusing on achieving results, and supporting others to achieve results and legal technical knowledge
