Job Description:
  • A Global Engineering & Construction Company, one of the largest publicly traded engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance and project management companies, is seeking a litigation attorney in its office in Irving, TX. Position reports to the Senior Counsel for Litigation.
  • Work closely with company personnel, including senior attorneys, to provide legal advice and counsel on a variety of dispute related issues with particular emphasis on engineering, procurement and construction contract disputes.
  • Manage litigation, other disputes and outside counsel globally, including development of case strategy and planning related to disputes. Develop, negotiate and manage budgets of outside counsel.
  • Contribute to strategy and planning in a variety of dispute related matters. Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options. Recommend and assist with implementation of appropriate courses of action.
  • Assist or represent the company in negotiations with third parties.
  • Assist in a variety of investigation matters and with witness and document location and identification.
  • Maintain familiarity with industry issues and developing legal theories relating to various aspects of the company's operations.

Basic Job Requirements:
  • Accredited professional law degree based on country requirements and five (5)years of work-related experience; a professional license, certification, or registration that may be required in order to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Other Job Requirements:
  • Knowledge of litigation, preferably including international dispute resolution experience
  • Excellent analytical skills and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to manage competing interests in a highly demanding environment
  • Travel is required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing legal advice and counsel to corporations in the context of handling and/or managing litigation.
  • Experience in managing eDiscovery and electronically stored information, preferably in complex construction-related disputes.
