About the role:The Americas Legal team supports business stakeholders across North and South America on a wide range of subject matters, including employment, commercial, advertising and product liability. We are seeking an exceptional, collaborative, and enthusiastic junior attorney to provide a wide range of transactional and legal support to A Global Technology Enterprise Company's fast-growing business. As Corporate Counsel, you will report directly to the General Counsel, partner with various A Global Technology Enterprise Company (including Human Resources, Sales, and B2B,) and support the Senior Employment Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel to provide a wide breath of legal services. Ideal candidates for this role will have in-house or law firm experience supporting US and international employment matters and commercial transactions, preferred MX and LATAM practice.
Accountabilities:
- Review, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including retailer, supplier, and vendor agreements.
- Ensure awareness and compliance with federal, state and local laws throughout the Americas Region.
- Support all formal and informal employment and commercial challenges and related litigation.
- Proactively identify arising risk areas and work with the business to develop risk mitigation solutions.
- Develop expertise to provide expert and pragmatic advice on a wide range of legal issues, including risk/benefit analysis to support business action.
- Assist on a variety of employment law matters.
- Develop and deliver necessary legal training to the business.
- Support the continuous improvement and updating of form agreements, legal processes and compliance practices.
- Manage external counsel where appropriate, ensuring compliance with A Global Technology Enterprise Company's cost management processes.
- Be a team player that is always ready to jump in and help on almost any issue.
About You:
- 3 to 5 years of experience at a law firm or in-house required – a combination of law firm and in-house experience strongly preferred.
- Must be an attorney in good standing licensed to practice in Illinois.
- Intellectual agility and confidence to learn quickly on the job and therefore deal with issues outside your current experience and skill set.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Good awareness of the role of Legal in business decisions and the ability to actively contribute in the taking of those decisions.
- Evidence of being a self-starter who is good at identifying problems and proactively remedying them, and who demonstrates professionalism, pride and integrity in all aspects of your work.
- An ability to work successfully with a minimum level of supervision in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- High degree of organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects when necessary.
- Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
