Job Overview:LCA seeks a dynamic attorney to bring diversity of thought and perspective to our Legal team. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney looking to utilize legal and compliance skills by helping the Treasury programs comply with the law; assess and minimize compliance risks; develop necessary policies and procedures; and ensure strong vendor relationships through management and oversight. Through this position, the successful candidate has the opportunity to utilize legal skills by providing legal advice, interpretations, and guidance to all the varied Treasury programs. Depending on individual career goals, there are also opportunities for exposure to the legislative process, board governance, procurements, and administrative law cases. At the present time, this position is primarily remote, with occasional in person meetings in downtown Nashville; however, job location is subject to change at the discretion of the Treasurer. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and written legal analysis to Treasury programs to minimize risk.
- Assist in the development of a compliance regimen to ensure Treasury's non-investment programs comply with applicable laws, rules, guidance, and interpretations and also maintain contract compliance and vendor oversight.
- Assist in the process of reviewing and revising policies and procedures to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
- Draft and analyze legislation and fiscal notes affecting the State Treasurer and the Department.
- Review and analyze the effects of proposed state and federal legislation.
- Draft solicitation documents and review service provider agreements.
- Assist in the preparation and management of occasional administrative law cases. Assist the Department with board meetings, subpoenas and public records requests.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee.
- Graduation from an accredited law school.
- Graduation from four (4)-year college or university.
- Ten (10) years of experience practicing law.
- Preferred Qualifications: Minimum three (3) years of experience in compliance
