About the Position: HLA seeks an attorney or recent or upcoming law graduate committed to indigent criminal defense for its Parole Program. The candidate hired for this position will join HLA's Parole Program to provide high quality representation to those facing revocation of their parole in Onondaga County, New York. This position includes frequent client interaction at the local jails, representation at recognizance, preliminary, and final revocation hearings, performing legal research, and filing writs of habeas corpus. A Social Worker and a Law Assistant provide support to the Parole Program Attorneys and their clients. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a collaborative, established non-profit office providing high-quality representation to people in need.

Qualifications: Admission or pending admission to New York Bar, or registration to take the July 2024 New York bar exam. Strong written and oral advocacy skills. Demonstrated commitment to public-interest law and to indigent defense. Ability to multi-task. Diverse economic, social, and/or cultural experiences.
