The in-house legal team member will provide efficient and timely legal services for our companies. The attorney is responsible for coordinating and preparing, under supervision of the Deputy General Counsel, legal documents related to franchising and other company business, including providing disclosure documents to prospective franchisees, processing franchise agreements and related legal agreements, maintaining legal files, managing critical dates and tracking key information and other activities. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

This role will work directly with the executive team, staff, franchisees, and key vendors to ensure delivery of timely and effective legal services. A successful candidate for this role will share our core values of Joy, Teamwork, Achievement and Integrity.

Responsibilities:
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements and other legal documents related to our operating units (franchise operations, marketing, product distribution, IT, accounting, etc.).
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial leases related documents.
  • Consulting with executives, management, advisors, accountants and marketing staff on legal and general operational issues.
  • Advising on employment matters.

Required Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  • Admitted to practice law in at least one state
  • J.D. from an AB accredited law school
  • Exceptional organizational skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Two years of commercial transactional law experience within a firm or within an inhouse legal department
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities
  • Knowledge of and skilled in using software including Microsoft Office suite and Adobe.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Excel is required
  • Experience with electronic signatures (e.g., DocuSign)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in writing and orally
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines through to timely completion
  • Perform related and other duties as assigned

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to travel domestically
