Job Summary:A Non-Profit Organization is seeking an attorney to assist the agency's Legal Department in its Jackson, MS location. Candidates should be detail-oriented attorneys with a commitment to quality work product in a fast-paced work environment. Prior experience in the healthcare field will be considered a plus.
Duties for this position include:
- Provide legal advice regarding state and federal laws governing the Medicaid program;
- Research and analyze policy issues related to healthcare and Medicaid;
- Manage and assist in litigation, including litigation conducted by the Mississippi Attorney General and/or outside counsel;
- Draft and review legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings and other documents;
- Coordinate discovery activities as needed;
- Supervise document productions;
- Negotiate and draft contracts, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements;
- Assist agency personnel in assessing and resolving legal issues that arise in day-to-day operations of the agency;
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or the Legal Department.
Qualifications and skills needed include:
- Licensed to practice law in Mississippi;
- A minimum of three years legal experience, with some litigation experience required;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Effective time management skills, including the ability to manage priorities among multiple projects and meet deadlines;
- Work effectively as part of a team;
- Maintain positive working relationships with Medicaid personnel who seek assistance from the Legal Department.
