The USNCB is seeking an attorney to fill the position of Deputy General Counsel (Supervisory) in the USNCB's Office of General Counsel. This attorney's responsibilities will include:
  • Works closely with the USNCB General Counsel to provide legal advice and counsel on all matters impacting the agency and its equities. Portfolios are both administrative and operational.
  • Serves as a legal advisor to the USNCB leadership and staff, rendering opinions on complex legal issues.
  • Monitors and provides comments on proposed legislation or regulations and their potential impact on USNCB operations and equities, keeping USNCB leadership and other stakeholders aware of key developments.
  • Provides expertise and advice on A Government Entity related matters, including international criminal, and investigative issues, such as fugitives, extradition, mutual legal assistance, and data processing.
  • Provides expertise and advice on matters such as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Privacy Act, ethics, fiscal law, privacy and civil liberties, and oversees the personnel responsible for those programs.
  • Provides expertise and advice to law enforcement professionals on routine and complex international law enforcement matters.
  • Drafts data sharing and other agreements involving USNCB equities and personnel.
  • Represents the interests of the USNCB at both interagency and international meetings.
  • Assists the General Counsel in managing the daily operation of the Office of General Counsel,
  • Assists the USNCB leadership with written descriptive and background reports, compilations, surveys, comparisons of laws, statements of policy and other written products on legal issues of national or international significance, and the operational and administrative functions of the agency.
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of a State, Territory, or the District of Columbia, and be an active member of the bar in good standing. Applicants must also be able to qualify for the highest and most sensitive security clearances.

Applicants should have superior academic credentials, and outstanding interpersonal, verbal, writing and analytical skills. The successful candidate should also have a background or demonstrated interest in international issues and criminal practice.
