What You'll Do:
  • Deal with complex and difficult legal matters.
  • Working under administration direction, plans, directs, and coordinates the legal programs of the agency for the following: Acts as legal counsel for provider certification and licensure and for Medicaid funded programs for persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Provides legal research, consultation and advice for O.R.C. Chapter 119 hearings for licensure denials, revocations, suspension of admissions and non-renewals, as well as denial and revocation of provider certifications.
  • Develops and implements policies concerning the 119 process and overseeing the procurement of hearing officers and necessary administrative contract personnel.
  • Serves as a legal liaison with other state departments and their representatives and the public.
  • Acts as legal counsel for information privacy and security.
  • Provides legal research, consultation, and advice on HIPAA/HITECH implementation, other federal and state privacy and security laws and regulations, and compliance, development of policies, procedures, and protocol regarding confidential personal information and other issues involving electronic storage and safety of sensitive information.
  • Performs other legal and related duties as assigned.

This position is telework eligible under the agency's current telework agreement.**

Qualifications:
Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code; 18 mos. exp. as licensed attorney; 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques.
