The Position:
A Government Entity, an independent state agency with more than $3 billion sales yearly, is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to serve as an Attorney 3, Non-Supervisory within the Office of Chief Counsel. If you have professional legal experience with making recommendations to and/or writing opinions for judges or hearing examiners in administrative or court proceedings, the PLCB wants to talk to you!

Description of Work:
The Attorney 3, Non-Supervisory serves in the Office of Chief Counsel of the A Government Entity and provides legal advice and counsel to the Board, Chief Counsel, Executive Deputy Chief Counsel, and Deputy Chief Counsel. The employee reports to the Deputy Chief Counsel of Advice, Adjudications, and Administration.

This position is responsible for performing non-supervisory professional legal work, which ranges from moderately difficult to complex. A wide variety of legal work is performed, with a primary focus on making recommendations and drafting opinions in administrative proceedings involving liquor license transfer and/or renewal applications, as well as other related matters.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • Work schedule may be negotiable.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 4 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility:
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Five years of professional legal experience and graduation from an accredited school of law; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Post Employment Requirement:
Applicants must be certified for admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and must maintain membership on a continuous basis during employment.

Additional Requirements:
You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
You must pass a background investigation. An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code. Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
