As an Associate General Counsel within the Equitable Investment Management Legal team, this position's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing substantive advice and guidance on legal and regulatory matters relating to the firm's registered mutual funds; assisting with fund board and committee meetings, including drafting and presenting proposals and reports to the board and reviewing materials prepared by other contributors; and preparing and/or reviewing regulatory filings, including registration statements on Form N-1A and proxy statements on Form N-14.
  • Identifying, assessing, and addressing complex legal and regulatory issues and providing informed legal advice and guidance within tight time constraints.
  • Evaluating proposed rules affecting registered mutual funds, becoming a subject matter expert on new rules, and taking a leadership role in the implementation of new rules.
  • Advising on the development of new mutual funds and other investment products and initiatives by, among other things, identifying potential legal issues and risks and proposing solutions.
  • Handling legal and regulatory matters relating to the firm's registration and activities as an investment adviser and commodity pool operator.
  • Negotiating relevant agreements, including sub-advisory agreements and agreements with adviser and fund service providers and vendors.
  • Providing legal support to a wide range of stakeholders, including management, the investment team, compliance, fund administration, marketing, and operations.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate degree.
  • 10+ years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience.
  • Knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 with marketing and advertising rules for mutual funds and investment advisers.
  • Ability and desire to take on multiple clients and effectively prioritize projects and assignments for each client.
