What we are looking for:
We're seeking an Associate General Counsel with a whatever-it-takes approach to join our team! In this full-time role, you'll be responsible for and involved in a wide range of legal and corporate matters.

What We Expect from You:
  • Advising and providing guidance on compliance matters specific to the real estate industry, such as Fair Housing Act matters, landlord/tenant matters, and local regulatory compliance matters.
  • Advising and providing guidance on legal matters affecting operation of a large company, such as employment matters, corporate governance matters, and investor relation maters.
  • Developing policies and procedures designed to enhance compliance and support the company's business and strategic objectives, and ensuring such policies and procedures are followed.
  • Appearing in court in Maryland and Virginia on behalf of A Property Management Company and its affiliates, including for landlord/tenant matters.
  • Assisting in the coordination of outside litigation counsel and determining litigation strategy.
  • Negotiating and drafting various contractual agreements, such as commercial leases and vendor contracts.
  • Keeping informed of industry-specific regulations and ensuring that appropriate risk management strategies are in place.
  • Assume responsibility for special projects assigned from time to time by the General Counsel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Contribute to team/company engagement efforts.
  • Comply with all A Property Management Company's policies and procedures.

What's required from you:
  • 5+ years relevant experience in an in-house or law firm environment.
  • Real estate industry experience preferred.
  • Local government affairs experience a plus.
  • Membership in or eligibility for admission to the Maryland Bar and/or Virginia Bar (including Corporate Counsel admission).
