About the role:
An Automated Data Integration Company is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.

We're looking for a business minded attorney to join our growing Legal team as Associate Counsel - IP & Product who will report to the Product and Compliance Managing Counsel. This role offers exposure to a range of issues including securing and expanding An Automated Data Integration Company's global IP portfolio, product feature development, public facing content review, engineering and open source, and legal term drafting - all with a vision towards enhancing An Automated Data Integration Company's mission. In this role you will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the legal team and multidisciplinary teams within the business primarily covering intellectual property and product.

This role will require a talented, agile and creative lawyer with a process and operations-orientation to help educate the business and develop the IP portfolio as An Automated Data Integration Company scales. You will be responsible for staying informed of peer company best practices and relevant global legal developments, analyzing applicability to An Automated Data Integration Company's activities and objectives, and advising on a trademark & IP program. You will also work with Compliance Counsel as needed regarding legislative and regulatory requirements by assisting and improving global compliance programs.

Your expertise will help drive creative, customer-focused, practical, and proactive legal guidance enabling the Company to execute on its goals, objectives, mission, vision, and values in a compliant and ethical way.

This is a full-time position based out of the US (Denver in-office or US Remote).

What You'll Do:
  • Play an impactful role in all matters relating to intellectual property - including continued development of An Automated Data Integration Company's global IP portfolio, trademark and copyright filings, IP enforcement, IP harvesting and coordination with outside counsel for patent prosecution.
  • Rely on an inquisitive mindset to work cross-functionally across An Automated Data Integration Company teams to provide legal counsel and support related to the IP aspects of product development, strategic partnerships, and marketing.
  • Collaborate with privacy, compliance, commercial, corporate, and employment legal stakeholders to surface, communicate, and drive resolution around concerns related to An Automated Data Integration Company Products.
  • Stay updated on relevant law, regulations and evolving developments in the law, providing legal advice to the business and other attorneys and recommending policy and/or process changes as needed.
  • Creatively solve problems, be strategic, and enable the business to take calculated and informed risks by being able to hear and answer questions that aren't asked and translate technical concerns into answers understandable to non-technical lawyers.
  • Work to optimize and scale processes and enablement materials for the areas and teams we counsel.
  • Demonstrate expertise in product counseling, compliance laws, and technology transactions with the capacity to expand your legal and business knowledge.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as necessary or as assigned.

Skills We're Looking For:
  • 3-5 years combined experience in-house and/or at a law firm counseling SaaS companies on product and/or intellectual property. Enterprise level experience preferred, patent prosecution and/or IP litigation experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to clearly articulate and defend risk analysis; critically examine business practices to ensure they are aligned with legal requirements; break down legal concepts into plain language for non-lawyers; provide advice regarding business practice risk.
  • Successful candidate is a proven team player and consensus builder that takes a business approach to law.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, follow through and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a creative mindset and an ability to find solutions where others see barriers.
  • Success requires self-motivation, inquisitiveness, confidence, diligence and a passion to learn about new technologies and to pave ways in unchartered territories.
  • Member of a state bar/ active license to practice law required
  • IP and trademark experience with a service-oriented mindset and curiosity to find ways to improve the organization
