Positions Summary
The Associate Counsel, Data Privacy will be joining our Legal team and will primarily focus on the online and digital side of A Spectator Sports Company's business. This would include NCSA, Front Rush, and A Spectator Sports Company+. Experience with data protection, compliance, and counseling clients using pragmatic and business-minded guidance will be important in this role.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Contract Review: Negotiate and draft data privacy agreements, security addendums, SaaS, software license, and other related agreements. Work closely with sales, information security, and partner teams on transactions that drive company revenue. Review vendor agreements to ensure compliance with our standards and commitments.
  • Data Governance: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain effective data governance framework, including data classification, data retention, and data response protocols.
  • Privacy Compliance: Oversee and ensure compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations that may apply, including CPRA, GDPR, HIPAA, COPPA, TCPA, and other federal and state laws. Assist in the development of data governance framework, including data mapping, classification, and retention policies.
  • Policy Development: Work alongside information security team to develop and implement comprehensive privacy policies, guidelines, and procedures to safeguard personal data and mitigate privacy risks across the company.
  • Training: Monitor developments, educate relevant stakeholders, and ensure compliance with, emerging privacy laws in the U.S. and internationally.
  • Incident Response: Lead and coordinate responses to privacy incidents and data breaches, including investigations, notifications, remediation efforts, and communication with regulatory authorities and affected individuals, as needed.
  • Other projects as requested by Chief Legal Officer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 5+ years' experience at a top law firm and/or in-house practice with a focus on data privacy and governance.
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of privacy laws, regulations, and standards, including CPRA, GDPR, TCPA, HIPAA, and COPPA.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will enable interaction with a range of personalities and styles in a fast-paced business environment (including explaining legal concepts to clients and colleagues without legal knowledge, and with limited time).
  • Solid analytic skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and a practical business-oriented viewpoint.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize and produce quality work within deadlines.
  • Upbeat temperament, dynamic personality, proactive and highly team-oriented approach to work.
