Description:

Central Contra Costa AV Rated insurance and public entity defense firm seeks a motivated and hard-working associate with a minimum of 2-5 years relevant defense experience.

Requirements:
An ideal candidate should possess the following:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil litigation and be a member in good standing with the State Bar of California;
  • Ability to evaluate cases for legal issues and strategy for effective and efficient handling;
  • Experience in the courtroom and in taking and defending depositions;
  • Experience with legal research, drafting of motions, briefs and other legal documents;
  • Experience in all phases of civil discovery, including creating effective discovery plans, drafting written discovery, conducting meet and confers and evaluating discovery responses;
  • Ability to identify, select, and prepare expert witnesses as well as critically deconstruct opposing experts;
  • Ability to draft detailed comprehensive status reports to carriers/client;
  • Ability to work well independently but also be able to work collaboratively with the input of others;
  • Ability to efficiently execute multiple time-sensitive projects;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and nurture strong relationships with associates, partners, staff and clients;
  • Experience with Microsoft-based computer programs; and
  • Experience with entering billing time and descriptions for all billable work.
