About the Job:
A Law Firm is seeking qualified candidates for an associate position with our Business Receivership and Business Litigation Practice Groups. Ideal candidates must have at least 2 years of prior associate-level experience in general commercial litigation.

Based in Milwaukee, the Firm has counseled some of the largest and most influential businesses in Wisconsin across numerous industries, including financial services, healthcare, commercial real estate, manufacturing, hospitality, private equity and venture capital sectors.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills;
  • An ability to learn new substantive legal topics as needed;
  • Knowledge of federal and state court practice, experience preparing answers, motions, and other routine filings;
  • Experience handling hearings and depositions;
  • Willingness to assist with both commercial litigation and insolvency matters; and
  • Significant case management experience.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide effective and reliable legal services to clients and supervising attorneys;
  • Provide thorough factual and legal research and analysis in pleadings, memoranda, and other written documents;
  • Draft pleadings and other case documents;
  • Attend hearings throughout Wisconsin;
  • Complete tasks efficiently;
  • Manage matters from commencement to final resolution; and
  • Competently and professionally communicate with clients and supervising attorneys.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines;
  • Strong organization and matter management skills;
  • Ability to work professionally and effectively with Clients, Partners, Associate and Support Staff;
  • Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team;
  • Ability to learn new substantive legal topics as needed;
  • Familiarity with and ability to prepare basic and complex litigation documents;
  • Familiarity with federal and state court procedural rules and practices;
  • Clear and effective drafting skills; and
  • Strong negotiating skills.

Requirements:
Juris Doctor. Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in Wisconsin.
