Description:

A law firm specializing in legal services for medical providers in the field of No-Fault insurance is seeking an Associate Attorney with relevant federal litigation experience in to join its office in Downtown Brooklyn. This is a full-time, virtual job, meaning that candidates will work from home, except where the occasional court appearance may be required in-person. Work will be performed by accessing our web-based case management system as well as those particular portals (e.g., PACER, NYSCEF) relevant to the matters being handled.

Responsibilities:
  • Handle and oversee matters involving causes of action based on civil RICO, common law fraud and other issues.
  • Attend conferences and make appearances (whether virtual or in-person).
  • Gather evidence, evaluate findings, and develop effective strategies and arguments.
  • Taking depositions.
  • Draft, prepare, and review legal documents.
  • Negotiate settlements.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to complete projects.

Overall Expectations:
  • Juris Doctor degree. Licensed to practice law in the State of New York and in the Eastern District of New York.
  • Candidates with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience working on federal cases. Special consideration will be given to those candidates whose federal experience is in the field of no-fault or insurance related matters.
  • Uphold and promote a cooperative work environment.
  • Strive to understand and improve upon the firm's internal processes.

Skills Required to Succeed:
  • Candidates must be licensed to practice in the Eastern District of New York federal courts.
  • Candidates must have significant experience utilizing Pacer.
  • Candidates must have personally worked on federal matters and have appeared as counsel on multiple federal cases.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (i.e., active listening, negotiation, persuasion).
  • Strong analytical skills (i.e., critical thinking, problem solving, decision making).
  • Ability to stay organized and meet rigid deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency with computers (i.e., Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, MS Excel, Google Workspace).
