We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to become a part of our team! You will represent clients in legal proceedings, draft legal documents, and advise clients on employment law and professional license defense related matters.

A Maryland Employment Lawyer is located in Columbia, Maryland and is continuing to expand. The firm seeks an attorney to join its thriving employment and professional license defense practices. The firm is looking for an attorney with at least 2 years of experience in employment law (either plaintiff-side or management-side experience) and someone eager to have direct contact with clients on sophisticated legal matters.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients in court and before government administrative agencies;
  • Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients;
  • Advise clients on employment and professional license defense matters;
  • Commitment to producing high-quality legal work product;
  • Negotiate settlements for legal disputes;
  • Comply with all legal standards and regulations;
  • Assist with preparing marketing materials for the firm, such as blog posts and webinars;
  • Meeting firm's established billable hour requirements; and
  • Handling court appearances, depositions, and trials.

Qualifications:
  • Journal experience and/or moot court experience preferred;
  • Experience handling proposed removals and proposed suspensions in federal sector cases;
  • Experience representing federal employees before the U.S. EEOC and the MSPB;
  • Litigated a case through summary judgment in federal court;
  • Litigated employment cases, particularly under Title VII, FMLA, ADA, the Rehabilitation Act and FLSA;
  • Licensed to practice law in Maryland and, preferably, in the District of Columbia;
  • First chaired a deposition;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong research and writing skills;
  • Ability to build rapport with clients; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
