Description:

A Government Entity is seeking candidates to fill vacancies for the position of Assistant Prosecutor. An Assistant Prosecutor performs a wide range of duties, including evaluating the merits of a criminal case, preparing the case for trial, and advocating on behalf of victims and in the best interest of the State of New Jersey.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the Bar of the State of New Jersey.
  • Must be a resident of the State of New Jersey.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver's license.
  • Bi-lingual candidates are preferred, but not required.

Job Duties:
Duties commonly associated with this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Making appearances and representing the State's interests in Court (adult, juvenile, and family courts).
  • Drafting pleadings, indictments, briefs, and legal memoranda.
  • Processing and prosecuting criminal matters.
  • Managing an assigned caseload and overseeing all aspects of the criminal prosecution, including interviewing, and subpoenaing all necessary witnesses; researching relevant statutes and case law; reviewing pertinent police, forensic and expert reports; arguing pre-trial motions and negotiating plea agreements.
  • Supervising and advising law enforcement agencies on issues arising during criminal investigations.
  • Coordinating with the Victim/Witness Unit in an effort to assist victims and witnesses of crime.
