Description:

Duties:
  • Prosecutes complaints for and on behalf of the County and other official agencies.
  • Receives and reviews police reports and arrest warrants from police departments.
  • Advises police agencies on proper legal procedures.
  • Prepares legal briefs for submission to Circuit and District Courts, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
  • Represents the people of the State of Michigan in jury and non-jury felony cases in the Circuit Court and District Court, as well as argues cases in front of the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
  • Assists less experienced Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys by recommending strategies and techniques.
  • Exercises a considerable degree of independent judgment throughout each state of the criminal justice process and in the preparation of cases.
  • Participates in community outreach programs of personal interest to the applicant that align with the office goals.

Education and Experience:
Graduation from accredited law school is required but no experience is necessary. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience.

Special Requirements:
Must be a member of the State Bar of Michigan. If awaiting bar results, applicant may be hired in pending passage of bar exam.
