Closing Date: 25th May, 2024

Description:

The Asset Forfeiture Division is charged with the responsibility of investigating and prosecuting all seizures of contraband pursuant to Chapter 59 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. This is a civil process which is separate and distinct from the filing and disposition of criminal charges.

This position provides the opportunity to practice civil litigation, understand and apply criminal investigative and legal concepts, manage your own caseload, supervise a paralegal, and work closely with other areas of criminal prosecution, including Major Narcotics and Money Laundering. The Asset Forfeiture Division seizes and forfeits contraband from criminals, including cash, vehicles, boats, jewelry, gambling devices, gambling proceeds, and other property related to the proceeds of criminal activity. We work to “take the profit out of crime.” Asset Forfeiture provides a great way to learn both civil and criminal law and the practical application of both.
