Job Summary:
This position will facilitate the A Publicly Traded Diversified Energy Company law department's efforts to drive functional excellence in litigation by managing complex litigation and government investigations. The role in conjunction with the Chief Litigation Counsel supports litigation in a broad range of matters in both state and federal court, including commercial, environmental, personal injury, property damage, bankruptcy and collection matters.

Job Responsibilities:
This attorney will both directly represent the Company and manage outside counsel in litigated matters. The position will have lead responsibility on those matters with limited supervision or direction. The role will develop and manage budgets for efficient and effective management of cases. In addition, the role will collaborate with senior lawyers and business partners to provide strategic guidance and solutions to protect and mitigate risk to the company.

Job Specific Qualifications:
Required Qualifications, Competencies, Education or Experience:
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Member in good standing of the New Jersey Bar
  • 5+ years of defense litigation or government experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Professionalism, integrity, and excellent customer/client focus
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility, and a strong work ethic; demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be detail oriented and demonstrate excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to exercise exceptional judgment and ability to assess risk
  • Ability to work independently and under time constraints in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Prior in-house counsel and/or major law firm experience preferred
