The Senior Corporate Counsel – North America, will be a member of the Legal Department, report directly to the General Counsel of Global Brands Group, and provide support to the President of Global Brands Group, North America in the following areas of legal expertise:
Primary responsibility for joint venture arrangement with key business partners, and acquisition and disposition of business operations in North America including managing legal integration of newly acquired businesses.
Draft, review, negotiate and interpret a variety of material licensing and corporate agreements, including trademark licenses, distribution and supplier agreements.
Management of legal entity formation and corporate oversight of all U.S. operating subsidiaries.
Skills and Requirements
J.D. with excellent academic credentials.
Membership in good standing in the bar of at least one state (NY or eligibility to register as a NY in-house counsel).
8-10 years of experience in a relevant field – either corporate transactional or intellectual property (licensing).
Experience working in the fashion and/or retail industry is a plus.
Excellent drafting and communication skills with attention to detail.
Effective negotiating, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Business acumen, sound judgment and a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
Experience and comfort interacting with business executives.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
